  • BUS 110-Management and Organizational Behavior:

The course covers classic and current management principles as well as the study of the behavior of individuals and groups in an organizational setting. Topics include motivation, leadership, organizational design and conflict resolution. 

 

  • BUS 252- Financial Management:

Financial Management is concerned with planning and controlling of financial aspects of a business concern. This course focuses on financial decision making techniques with an eye on creation of wealth. The main chapters include Time value of Money, Valuation and characteristics of Bonds and Stocks. Capital Budgeting and risk analysis, Working Capital Management etc.

 

  • BUS 280 - Strategic Management:

The major functions of top management, the major problems that affect the success in the total organization, and the decisions that determine the direction of the enterprise.

Heavy emphasis on the ethical-social responsibility with implications in strategic decision    making, including value chain analysis, and internal, external, and global considerations.

 

  • BUS 209- Business Economy and Management:

This course provides an introduction to the management of organizations and is designed to familiarize the students with management principles, concepts, and practices. The work of the manager is studied in terms of roles, required knowledge and skills. Topics covered include managing in a global environment, planning, organizing, leading and controlling. Particular attention is given to the importance of decision making since it is the key function of the management of any sort of organization.

 

  • BUS 260- Operations  Management:

This course is an introduction to the essentials of Operations management for running a business. It involves the activities related to actually producing and delivering products or services that a customer wants and is willing to pay for. Topics include Operations strategy, product design, process selection, quality control, capacity planning, facility location, demand and inventory management.

 

  • BUS 357 E- Commerce:

The course aims at introducing and giving overview of e-commerce to the students of business administration .Topics include developing online strategies for launching and organizing a site, planning and overseeing the transaction system etc.

 

  • BUS 230 -BUSINESS LAW:

This course is an introduction to the essentials of management and business law for running a business.

 

  • BUS 270 -Human Resource Management:

This course provides a set of methodologies for systematically bringing about high-performance organization. Topics include employee selection, performance appraisal, training and development, compensation, legal issues and labor relations.

 

  • PHIL 35 - Business Ethics:

This course is an examination of the principles of ethics and issues that guide behavior in the world of business.  The topics covered are corporate responsibility, employee rights, and the nature of the free enterprise system, environmental concern and ethical business practices.

 

  • BUS  251-  Marketing Management:

Marketing is the most critical business discipline in many organizations, providing the integrative element that binds together disparate business activities and ensures that the focus is where it should be - on the needs of customers. Introduce students to the field of marketing management: analysis, planning and implementation of marketing strategies as the means for achieving an organization's objectives. Students analyze cases and participate in workshops that focus on key marketing management tasks: marketing research, consumer behavior, segmentation and targeting, sales forecasting, products and brand management, distribution channels, pricing, and promotion and advertising strategies.

 

  • BUS  211-  Managing Engineering & Technology:

This course is introduced to build management competencies by focusing on three knowledge areas: decision, planning and monitoring systems. The Principal focus of this course to analyze the application of these the management functions in research, design, production, technical marketing and project management.

 

 

  • BUS 120 – Financial Account ion:

This course is an introduction to financial accounting and its significant role in making sound business decisions. Emphasis is on what accounting information is, why is it important and how is it used to make economic decisions

 

  • BUS 375 – International  Business:

This course will deal with business concepts, analytical processes and philosophical bases for international business operations. Emphasis is on trade dynamics, cultural and economic constraints, unique international business practice, multinational business organizations, strategy and policy. Pre requisite: Bus 209 & Bus 251.

 

 

  • ECO 75- Economic Development in the Gulf States:

Principles  and concepts of economic growth and development; theories of economic development, economic development since1990s , factors of growth and development in the Gulf countries, employment, health, education, training, entrepreneurship and its role in the development of the region; natural resources and its role in Gulf region.

 

 

 

  • ECO  220- Economic Thought:

This covers the contributions of the classical and modern economists to the development of economic thought. Course aims at establishing a synthesis of evolving doctrines which have become the basis of currently accepted economic theory.

 

  • ECO 337 - Financial Mathematics:

This course covers topics which includes pricing, assets-liability management, capital budgeting, valuing cash flow, bonds, futures, swaps, options.

 

  • ECO 121- Principles of Micro Economic:

This course covers the major concepts and subject matter of microeconomics. This course guides the students to study about the resource allocation in the household and firms, the Cost functions, and the Market mechanism.

 

  • ECO 223- Managerial Economic:

This course brings together those topics in micro theory that can be applied to business decision making. The course will enable the students to understand the business objectives and how market economic forces create opportunities for making profit. It includes the study of the firm’s Cost function, Production function, Market structure, pricing, optimum output decisions etc.

 

  • ECO 345 - Energy Economic:

This course covers the most important topics related to Energy economics like Market structure, world resource development along with supply and demand analysis of energy production and consumption within domestic and global settings.

 

  • ECO 122 -Principles of Macro Economic:

This course covers the major concepts and subject matter of macroeconomics. This course guides the students to study about the macro economic issues like unemployment, inflation and the policies of monetary and fiscal economics.

 

  • ECO 320- Money and Banking:

This course introduces the student to the functions of money and banks and the working of the money and financial markets. This course broadly deals with the following topics: What is money? The functions of money; The Financial and money market instruments; Money supply process; Credit creation; Theories behind the Demand for money& Meaning and determination of Exchange rates.

 

 

  • ECO 211- Introduction to Economic Statistics:

This course covers the econometric and statistical methods used in economics and statistics; econometric techniques for the analysis of economic data; estimation of demand and cost functions using linear and non-linear equations, hypothesis testing and forecasting.

Corporate Finance is concerned with the way companies handle their own financial affairs. Measuring and controlling risk are the core themes of mastering finance. The chief chapters of this course include Risk and Portfolio Diversification Capitals Structure Planning and Dividend decisions.

  • ECO 222: Intermediate Microeconomic:

This course covers the key issues in Macroeconomics such as the  measurement of key macro economic variables; The phenomenon of business cycles; Unemployment- The effectiveness of Stabilization policies; The determination of equilibrium income, savings, investment; multiplier accelerator analysis; consumption –investment theories;  The concepts of money supply and money demand; Inflation and Interest rates.

This course covers the theories of international trade; analysis of gains from trade; effects of trade restrictions on trade flow and income distribution; arguments for restricting trade; effects of trade on economic development, employment and human capital development.

Examination of the international monetary system, the balance of Payments, the foreign exchange market, futures and options markets, foreign exchange and other risk management for firms, financing from a global perspective and direct foreign investment.

This course focuses on the need for funds in business and the techniques of analysis used to determine how effectively these funds are invested with in the firms. It also explains the

  • ACC 130 – Financial Accounting I:

This course presents a comprehensive and practical approach to modern day principles of accounting. It focuses largely on the accounting for external reporting and the generation of financial information necessary for managerial decision making. This course gives students the opportunity to master accounting concepts and provides a firm foundation for further studies. This course introduces students to the conceptual structure of financial accounting in an effort to develop their ability to read, understand and interpret the general purpose of financial statements – [ Income Statement, Position Statement, Statement of Retained Earnings, Cash Flow Statements ] reported to investors and creditors of corporate business entities.

 

  • ACC 131- Financial Accounting II:

This course is a continuation of Accounting 130 and deals with basic accounting aspects relating to Sole Proprietorships, Partnerships and Corporate form of organizations. It also deals with the Inventory Systems, and various methods involved in the valuation of inventory.

 

  • ACC 220 -Accounting by Computer:

The course covers the need and use of computer in accounting; rationale behind the computerization accounting. Process of computer accounting, chart of accounts, coding, processing and various documents and reports which can be generated with the help of computer; inputs, outputs and security data.

 

  • ACC 230 -Management Accounting Systems:

Management accounting has been designed to enable the student to acquire management accounting techniques. This course deals with the theory and practice of Management accounting. Topics include financial reporting and analysis. Evaluating liquidity, Merchandising operations, standard costing, cost behavior analysis, Budgeting, Performance management and evaluation.

  • ACC 240- Business Law For Accounting:

Topics include introduction to the legal system, constitutional and criminal law governmental regulation of business: antitrust, employment and environment law, contracts, sales, real and personal property and international law.

 

  • ACC 307 -Intermediate Accounting:

The course concentrates and emphasizes on a deeper understanding of Management and Control of Cash and Cash flows, aspects relating to Receivables and Notes Receivables, Acquisition and Disposal of Properties, Treatment of Depreciation / Depletion / Impairments and Accounting for Intangible Assets and their impairments and amortization.

 

  • ACC308- Intermediate Accounting:

This course is a continuation of ACC 307. It deals with advanced accounting aspects in liabilities, owner’s equity, income taxes, pension accounting etc., Topics include current liabilities, preferred stock dividends, pretax financial income and Taxable income, pension and post retirement health care benefits etc.,

 

  • ACC 312 -Cost Accounting:

In this course students will be introduced to Costing for the first time.  Cost Accounting is accounting done to ascertain cost information and help management to make decisions within a business. It is internal accounting, which is done voluntarily by a business entity. The course covers introduction, need for cost accounting, objectives and applications of cost accounting. Students will be introduced to the different categories of cost, and their analysis for decision-making and future planning.

 

  • ACC 350- Introduction to Taxation:

Introduction to the theory and practice of taxation as applied to individuals and businesses, current laws, rules and regulations, basic definitional tax concepts of income, deductions, credit, gain or losses, tax research methodology and tax planning issues.

 

  • ACC 351 -Government Accounting:

Every accounting issue that affects govt. has its counterpart in the business sector. But the distinction between accounting for Goats. And for business are so marked that the two disciplines warrant separate statements of concepts and separate accounting principles and practices. The chief focus of the course includes. Introduction to accounting for state and local governments and for not-for-profits entities, including healthcare providers, colleges and universities, voluntary health and welfare organizations. Principles of fund accounting, budgeting, budget control, auditing and analysis and interpretation of financial statements.  

 

  • ACC 352- Auditing:

Introduction to the objectives, theory and practices of financial auditing, application of generally accepted auditing standards, the importance of well-written and comprehensive audit reports and other auditing services such as compilation, review and other attestation functions.

 

  • POLY SCI 90- American Government:

National, State and Local Government in the US with special emphasis on political behavior and the institutions that determine the public policy. The topics include the structure of American government, citizenship, parties, pressure groups and American economic policy. The course views people in its relation to its people, its services and protection.

 

  • PSYCH 363- Clinical Psychology:

Course covers a variety of assessment and treatment procedures relevant to psychology, human adjustment problems, psychological testing, and techniques based on experimental outcome research.

  • PSYCH 140- Research Methods/Experimental Psychology:

This course examines the basic principles of social science research. It is an introduction to the content, models, and methodologies of psychological research. It will focus on its methodological approach rather than a subject and encompasses varied fields within psychology. This course will look at the various methods of research used in the field of psychology.

 

  • PSYCH 155- Educational Psychology:

This course focuses on the principles of psychology relevant to the field of education. Topics include the concepts of human growth & development, the learning process (with emphasis on teaching & learning), teaching/learning principles, methodologies, and classroom assessment.

 

  • PSYCH 205- Thinking & Problem Solving:

This course is an interdisciplinary study of cognition & human cognitive processes including topics such as sensation & perception, learning, memory, thinking, intelligence, etc.

 

  • PSYCH 211- Human Computer Interaction:

This course examines the practical & theoretical issues of how people interact with computers with the principal goal for students to develop an awareness & sensitivity for user needs and abilities as they experience computer applications at several websites employing various interactive devices.

 

  • PSYCH 212- Industrial Psychology:

This course reviews the role of psychology in work settings. Issues of selection, matching jobs and individuals, training, performance evaluation, productive and counterproductive behavior in organizations, stress, leadership and development are discussed as they relate to individual and group functioning.

 

  • PSYCH 240- Theories of Learning:

This course examines the basic process of conditioning and learning, familiarizing students to important classical treatments of the nature of learning It explains how changes in the environment affect the changes in humans. How those changes in the environment brings changes in the life of humans and how we learn to adopt those changes for our survival. The students will assume that relatively permanent behavioral change is the hallmark of learning, and that by studying the independent and dependent variables of learning, they might come

to understand the dynamics of human development, therapeutic modification, educational achievement, and other significant forms of behavioral change

 

  • PSYCH 250- Developmental Psychology:

Developmental psychology involves the study of constancy and change throughout the entire lifespan, from conception to death. The course will cover the relevant history, theories, research, and methods of developmental psychology as well as examine the areas of physical-motor, cognitive, social and personality development.

 

  • PSYCH 262- Abnormal Psychology:

An introductory study of various forms of personality and behavioral disorders. Consideration will be given to neurosis, psychosis, mental deficiency and other deviations with emphasis on etiology and treatment.

 

  • PSYCH 270 -Social Psychology:

Social psychology is the scientific study of the way people think about, feel, and behave in social situations; an understanding of the perspectives, research methods, and empirical findings of social psychology.  An equally important goal will be to develop critical and integrative ways of thinking about theory and research in social psychology.

This course examines the basic cognitive processes and their roles in human intelligence and behavior.   • PSYCH 330 -Neuroscience/ Physiological Psychology:

This course will introduce students to understanding human brain-behavior relationships. Emphasis will be placed on how the human brain is responsible for cognition, language, memory, spatial processing, emotion, and personality. Students will gain understanding of principles of brain organization, individual differences, and professional and clinical issues in neuroscience.

 

  • PSYCH 360- Personality Psychologies:

This course investigates different empirical approaches to the study and understanding of human personality, including historically important and current conceptualizations of personality. Topics include the definition and measurement of personality; biological and cultural aspects of personality; psychoanalytic, cognitive, and behavioral perspectives; gender differences; and personality disorders.

 

  • PSYCH 368- Clinical Psychology:

 

This course examines an in-depth look at the field of clinical psychology and the many activities of clinical psychologists. It examines the empirically supported assessment and treatment approaches, as well as the influence of culture, gender, and diversity in these approaches.

An examination of the origin of psychology within the framework of philosophy and science. Traces the major trends, schools and individuals. Major scientific, cultural, philosophical and personal influences in the development of psychology.

  • PSYCH 372 - Group Dynamics:

 

A review of the concepts and theories related to Group Dynamics. Topics include social goals, communication within groups, group structure, norms, leadership, decision making. Controversy, conflict resolution, power, diversity issues and team development.

  • PSYCH 390- Undergraduate Research:

Designed for undergraduate research. Topic to be arranged with the instructor. Dissertation submission and presentation of the work.
